You're very kind to say so! It's been a bit of a shock, having not just my actions but my intentions called into question like this. I've always made it clear I want to help the Foreigners.

well, sometimes people get upset when they find out stuff like this. I can kind of understand their point too.

but you didn't know that this stuff was going to be used for bad, right? you were probably just trying to do your best, right?

That wasn't what it was made for at all, no.

Has anyone told you... what the kedan used to be like?

no...i don't have any idea about that. do you mind explaining?

I don't mind, but it might take a little time! The kedan aren't native to this world, you see. Just like the Foreignesr aren't, Emperor Eshai, who ruled here for centuries, used magic to bring us here, originally to fight Malicant.

But her spell, well... it damaged us. It's hard to describe... but we were very muted? We didn't feel things fully, and were very passive. Shells of ourselves, for generations.

so that's why...that's why you helped make those drugs, right? i was told that these are mind-altering drugs so...you did these with the intention of making the kedan experience emotions again?

Precisely! The one that's Dust, we never figured out why it only targeted negative emotions, that was so strange! The base for Lucid, I did so much better on that one, trial and error, you know.

and...then they fell into the hands of the bad guy, Malicant? or did you manage to help the kedan?

[cherrywood]

Well, Daseng used it to addict his followers to Malicant, yes.

The Foreigners helped us... when Malicant was defeated, the spell somehow broke.

talk about something gone horribly wrong, huh.

i have a question, though. why didn't you tell anyone about this before?

[cherrywood]

I blame myself, a little bit. If I'd been more firm about fixing Dust rather than starting anew, perhaps it wouldn't have become so prevalent.

I didn't think it was important, with Malicant destroyed and the kedan restored.

it's alright. we all make mistakes in our life or do things we regret. we can't change things but...we can keep moving forward. and you've done that, right? that's what should matter the most.
