Then you get why basically everything you say and do is kind of under suspicion right now.

Look, Milyn...we have a history together, and it wasn't all bad. I haven't forgotten the fact that you took care of us while we were away in Dreaming, and maybe that's why I'm not a lot more pissed than I probably could be. I'm trying to give you a chance to either explain yourself or prove that maybe...just maybe...there's a reason we should still trust you.

No, I don't understand that part, actually! I've helped the Foreigners since you've arrived, I've tried to make things easier for you all. I did all I could to help you fight Malicant, and take care of you in the aftermath. How are those things under suspicion?

[ Despite the light tone, she does seem a little distressed by that idea. ]

[She was either feigning innocence, or or she really, really didn't get it. Zatanna wasn't sure which was worse.]

Stop me if you've heard these names before.

Hmm... well, I worked on the second and third, and first and last go together!

...you mean went together, right? Considering Malicant is gone.

[But that wasn't her point. Not entirely.]

And you helped him. Them.

[ Milyn's gaze goes hard. ]

I never helped Malicant. I wanted him gone just as much as anyone.

But you're working with the Cultists.

And you just said yourself that they "go together"

No, I worked with Daseng, who happens to lead them, because I studied under Daseng when I was younger and he's a brilliant alchemist. That's entirely different.

But he is still the Leader.

You can't work for him and be claiming to help us. That's called being a Double Agent. A lot of people are going to see that as a betrayal.

[She refrained from indicating whether or not she was one of them.]

But the two have nothing to do with each other. You obeyed the Justicar when she was here, does that mean you are in league with the Chihuelans?

Okay, one? Not starting an all out war with doesn't equal obeying. Not by a long shot.

Two, they're not even close to being the same thing, and you know it. You're making excuses now, and I"ll be honest? It's really not helping your case any.

I'm not sure anything I could have said to you would have "helped my case", dear. You sound like you've already made up your mind.

Then again...I gave you a chance to explain yourself, so you can't say I didn't give you a fair shot, and right now I'm kind of inclined to side with them.

That's pretty rude, to judge someone by a thing they did quite a while ago! I recall a certain magical mishap that turned things upside down and caused a lot of trouble, you know. Wouldn't it be unfair to judge everything you've done since by that?

[Okay so maybe there was a small bit of hypocrisy in there. Teeny bit.]

That was an accident. And, the way I recall it--since I was there, and all--is that some people did get pissed at me, even though I told them I didn't meant to and spent that whole week trying to fix it.

I mean, that's partially up to you, I guess. [A half-hearted shrug followed.] I mean, it's not like I'm going to attack you or anything right now. I'm just...it'll take a while.
